Getting Started

Creating Project: In Genny, you’re able to start three kinds of projects: AI Voice and Video, Short Voiceover, and Auto Subtitles. Begin by logging in. Next, hit “New Project.” Once you’ve picked the right project for you, click the blue “Start Project” button to begin!

AI Voice and Video:

AI Voice and Video projects enable you to craft both audio and video content featuring one or multiple speakers. You’ll gain access to handy editing features such as our Timeline Editor and AI tools (available for Pro, Pro+, and Enterprise users).

In video projects, you can upload your videos and images, produce voiceovers, incorporate audio effects and music, fine-tune timings, and export your creation in Full HD video format.

Short Voice Over

This option is tailored for brief voice-only tasks lasting under 5 minutes and containing fewer than 5000 characters. It’s designed for swift project completion using a single voice and a single text block, as implied by its name.

Auto Subtitle :

Step 1:  Select the subtitle option

For best results, we advise adding subtitles as the final step before exporting your project. This is particularly crucial if you’ve used text blocks, as subtitles won’t update automatically to reflect any changes made in them. Navigate to the subtitles section on the left side of your project view and choose the option that fits your requirements.

  1. Automatic Subtitles – Generate subtitles using either an uploaded file or your text blocks.
  2. Text Block to Subtitles – Generate subtitles exclusively from text blocks.
  3. Custom Subtitles – Generate subtitles by manually inputting your own text.
  4. SRT File Upload – Generate subtitles from an uploaded SRT file.

Step 2: After choosing either Auto Subtitles or Textblock to Subtitles, proceed by selecting the language corresponding to the audio. You’ll find a selection of over 20 languages and accents to choose from.

After you have selected the language, your subtitles will start generating automatically.

Step 3: Edit and select subtitle style

Once your subtitles have been generated, you can refine the text or adjust timestamps if necessary.

At the upper right corner of the subtitle editor, click on the “Style” button. Here, you can select from our preset styles (with customization options coming soon!) and choose the subtitle type:

  1. Static subtitles – where all captions remain visible throughout the scene as a single line of text.
  2. Dynamic subtitles – where each word is highlighted in sync with the audio as it is spoken.

You can apply your selected style to all subtitle blocks or specific blocks by toggling the “Apply to All” button as needed.

Your subtitles will update instantly and can be previewed in real-time

Optional Step – Reset Subtitles

Should you wish to reset your subtitles or opt to manually input or upload an SRT file, follow these steps: Click the three dots positioned in the top right corner, then select “Reset All,” and finally, choose the desired subtitle option.

This action will completely reset your subtitles, including all content, timings, and styles.

Kindly note that once you reset your subtitles, you won’t be able to revert to your previous subtitles.

Step 4: Return to the project view

Once subtitle editing is complete, click the “X” above the “Style” button to return to the project view. From there, feel free to apply any final touches, like sound adjustments or adding background music/sound effects, before exporting when you’re prepared!

Creating the More Nature  Voiceover

Using the pronunciation editor

At times, the AI might mispronounce words, such as your client’s brand name. While our AI continually improves, what should you do if you have a project due tomorrow?

Here are your options:

  1. Spell the word phonetically directly in the text box, typically the quickest method.

  2. Utilize our Pronunciation Editor.

Before diving into the Pronunciation Editor, let’s explore the first option to ensure you get the desired sound on the initial attempt!

  • Spell out the word phonetically. For instance, “LOVO” may sound better than “Love.”

  • Opt for lowercase for all capital words. The AI often interprets all capitals as individual letters, resulting in “LOVO” being read as “L-O-V-O.”

If you’re also using our instant subtitles, you can directly adjust the subtitles to display the correct spelling and style.

Using the Pronunciation Editor:

Step 1: Open the Pronunciation Editor panel on the left.

Step 2: Confirm the correct language selection, crucial as the corrected word will correspond only to the chosen language and accent. Note that different English accents are also distinct, such as English – GB versus English – US.

Step 3: Input the source word, such as “LOVO.”

Step 4: Enter the target word, like “Love.”

Step 5: Click the + button, and you’re all set!

Upon returning to your project, any text blocks with the edited word will require regeneration, indicated by a red dot.

Moving forward, whenever you type “LOVO,” it will generate as “LOVO,” provided you use the same language and accent.

Adding emphasis to words

With our Rapid Voices, you can infuse energy and impact into your voiceover by emphasizing specific words. After all, the emphasis on different words can significantly alter the meaning of a sentence.

Simply select your text box and choose “Emphasis” located just above it. Then, highlight the words you wish to emphasize. Click “Done,” and you’re all set!

Adjusting speed and pauses:

Altering Speed You have the flexibility to adjust the speed of any voice and each specific text block. Simply click on the Speed icon located at the top of the respective text block.

Adding  pauses

When utilizing a Rapid voice, you have the option to insert pauses between words or sentences.

Access the pause icon on the left-hand panel (resembling a stopwatch).

To insert a pause after a word, click on the word and specify the desired pause duration.

For a pause following a sentence, select the last word of the sentence and indicate the pause duration.

Once you’ve finished inserting pauses, click “Done” on the top banner.

What to do when your voiceover sounds weird:

Occasionally, the AI may produce unexpected speech patterns or mispronounce certain words. Here are some common issues and potential solutions:

Issue 1: Sentence concludes with an upward inflection

  • Attempt to regenerate the block; it may require a few attempts to achieve the desired inflection.
  • Consider altering the punctuation; swapping a period for an exclamation mark, for instance.

Issue 2: Final ‘s’ sound is omitted

  • Words like ‘twenties’ may encounter difficulty with the last ‘s’. Try modifying ‘yes’ to ‘yes’, such as ‘twenties’, for improved pronunciation.

Issue 3: Some words are pronounced oddly

  • Initially, regenerate the text block.
  • If the problem persists, utilize the pronunciation editor for corrections.

Issue 4: Unusual inflections

  • First, attempt to regenerate the block.
  • Explore the emphasis function, which stresses words, enhancing the sentence’s natural flow.
  • Experiment with adding commas or changing punctuation to improve the sound.

Perfecting your video  production:

Integrating Music & Sound Effects Compelling videos are often complemented by captivating music and sound effects. Here’s how you can enhance your project:

Incorporating Audio into Your Project

Step 1 Navigate to “Resources” on the left-hand side.

Step 2 Choose either “Upload” to import your own audio files (accepted formats: .MP3 or . WAV) or select the Pixabay tab.

Pixabay offers a range of royalty-free music and sound effects for your projects. Simply use the search bar and drop-down filters to find your desired music. To preview a sound, click on the respective file, and on the right-hand side, click play to listen to a short clip.

Step 3 After selecting your preferred track, click “Add to Project,” and you’ll notice a music block created on the Timeline Editor.

Any audio files you upload or add from Pixabay will be stored in the “My Folder” tab, allowing you to access them again without the need for re-uploading or searching.

Using the Timeline Editor:

The Timeline Editor is a robust tool designed to seamlessly merge your audio and video elements into a cohesive piece of content. Utilize this tool to precisely control the timing of videos, voiceovers, music, and sound effects down to the millisecond.

This editor becomes indispensable when synchronizing multiple elements to perfection. In this guide, we’ll explore its features, from basic editing functions to more advanced pinning and snap functions.

Let’s dive in!

Fundamentals: Timeline Blocks Each time you generate a text block, it manifests as a block in the Timeline Editor.

You can rearrange these blocks along the timeline by selecting and dragging them to your desired position. To select multiple blocks simultaneously, use cmd+select on Mac or ctrl+select on Windows.

Note: Rearranging text blocks is exclusively achievable through the Timeline Editor.

Individual Block Management – Volume, Deletion, Feedback For each block, you can adjust its volume, delete it from the timeline (and consequently, your project), and provide feedback to our support team if encounter any issues.

Simply right-click on the block you wish to modify and select the desired action.

Advanced: Snap 🧲 The snap feature ensures seamless alignment of blocks, preventing gaps or overlaps.

This feature is enabled by default, but let’s explore how it functions:

  1. Aligning adjacent blocks As you move blocks closer to each other (either towards the end or start of a block), a dotted red line will appear, indicating potential alignment. Releasing the block will cause it to “snap” to the adjacent block.

  2. Syncing various media tracks For projects featuring multiple media tracks like voiceovers, video, and music, the Snap feature ensures precise alignment.

Once again, drag the blocks (or adjust the length of audio, image, or video) to align with your desired block, e.g., a voiceover block. When close to alignment, a red dotted line will appear, signaling readiness to snap into place upon release.

To intentionally create small overlaps or spaces between blocks, disable the Snap feature by clicking the magnet icon at the top left of the Timeline Editor.

While Snap is active, you retain the freedom to overlap or separate blocks, provided it’s outside the range of the red dotted line.

Creating custom voice :

  1. Wish to incorporate their own voice into their content without the need for constant recording.
  2. Seek to develop distinct voices tailored perfectly to their content, such as for branding or character purposes.
  3. Require a custom voice available consistently.

This walkthrough will guide you through the process of creating your custom voice.

Let’s dive in! 🚀

Step 1 – Accessing the Voice Cloning Feature Upon opening an existing or new project in Genny, locate the Voice Cloning feature on the left-hand side of the window. Click on “Create a Voice Clone.”

Step 2 – Uploading/Recording Your Voice You have two options for crafting your custom voice:

  1. Upload a voice file.
  2. Record your voice directly within Genny.

Both methods necessitate only one minute of clear, echo-free voice data.

Recording Tip: For optimal results, consider recording in your closet, as the clothing acts as soundproofing, minimizing background noise and echo.

Uploading a Voice File: Simply drag and drop or select a file to upload. Once uploaded, click “Create Voice” to finish.

Recording Your Audio: Follow these simple steps to record your voice:

  1. Click on “Record my own audio.”
  2. Grant access to your microphone if prompted.
  3. Begin recording and read the displayed sentence. You can refresh to generate a new sentence for a 15-second recording.
  4. Once all four recordings are complete or you’ve exceeded one minute of samples, the progress bar will turn red.
  5. Delete any unwanted samples by clicking the trash icon and confirming. Then, record new samples if necessary.
  6. Click “Create a Voice,” and within moments, your voice will be ready!
  7. Preview your voice, and if satisfied, select “Use this voice” to save it to your library.

Step 3 – Saving Your Voice After selecting “Use this voice,” provide details such as a profile photo, name, gender, accent, and style. Click “Add voice” to save.

Step 4 – Choosing Your Voice Select your custom voice by clicking on the speaker profile photo or opting for “Speaker Selection.” Under the Voice Cloning tab, you’ll find all your custom voices, where you can choose, edit details, or delete them as needed. Once selected, your custom voice will be ready for use in your text block.
